Dr. Christian Fischer, CEO of SMARTRAC, highlighted the strategic significance of their partnership with Xytec Solutions:
"Our successful cooperation with Xytec and flexible access to state-of-the-art machinery for the production of RFID components is a decisive competitive advantage. By taking over the remaining 70% of Xytec, we will secure this strategic edge and maintain our leadership in RFID technology. We plan to leverage in-house know-how, reduce costs, and optimize delivery times to support future growth and maintain our position at the forefront of RFID innovation."
Xytec Solutions Sdn. Bhd., founded in 2005, specializes in providing SMARTRAC with patented machinery for RFID inlay production, particularly using wire embedding technology. With this partnership, SMARTRAC has significantly expanded its production capabilities. Moving forward, SMARTRAC aims to enhance Xytec's portfolio and extend its expertise to other production processes, including etching technology.
SMARTRAC was the first inlay manufacturer globally to achieve security certification for its production environment and processes for electronic identification (eID) products. The company’s leadership was further solidified when, on March 2, 2020, Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE: AVY) completed the acquisition of SMARTRAC's Transponder business for €225 million.
In 2011, we installed German eID production lines across two trips. The factory was relatively new, and our team of six professionals spent nearly a month setting up and testing the first production line. We collaborated closely with SMARTRAC’s Thai team to pass the Site Acceptance Test (SAT), followed by operator training.
The image above shows the RFID inlay embedding heads used during production, and the final picture was captured on the last day of our installation, marking the successful completion of the SAT test and training.
